Peoplecanchange.com has three upcoming weekend events for men who want help healing their SSA. The events are in Utah, Southern California, and Jacksonville, and are billed this way:
Journey into Manhood is a weekend of experiential exercises and inner-healing processes for men who are serious about working to overcome and resolve unwanted homosexual desires. The retreat is designed to help you:
- look at the inner perceptions that you project onto the outer world – perceptions that may be cutting you off from the male world, your own masculinity, and your ability to relate romantically with women;
- explore your feelings about men and women, masculinity and femininity, and your own self-image (or "gender esteem") that may be blocking you from growing fully into manhood;
- gain a clearer vision to see — and greater passion to make — the changes you need to make in your life to become the man you want to be and to live the life you want to live.
Are you going, closet-case?
Oh snap Louis! Oh SNAP!
I have wanted to attend one of these events. The entertainment value alone may be worth the price of admission. I also want to see how they portray my life and explain what deep-seated problems afflict my subconscious.
Yes, actually it sound quite fun. Bring along plenty of condoms and lube.
Seeker,
This has to be one of your funniest posts ever… Isn't this a bit like taking newly recovered alcoholics to Mardi Gras?
Whoever thought this was a good idea to try to "cure" homosexuals is probably closeted himself…
Actually, it is only for those who WANT to be free from their SSA. If they don't, they can always save their money and lube up and hit their local gay bar or bathhouse for whatever it is they go there for.
Actually, to get them to a place where they can safely deal with their emotional mess is something common to many recovery programs.
I recently finished Tanya Erzen's Straight to Jesus and would recommend the work to those who are interested in the issue. The focus on taking on a new identity with the hope of experiencing changes in attraction provided some useful insight. Also, she noted that ex-gay's stories changed to fit the model they were taught; unsurprising and quite relevant to understanding how the human mind works on many issues.
Consensual humiliation/punishment with some public shaming …hot
