The Center for Research on Globalization has posted an article entitled Global Warming: A Convenient Lie, which gives a nice overview of the very real problems with the man-made CO2 global warming claims. I’ve summarized below.
- Earth is not the only planet to be experiencing climate change in our
solar system currently. In fact, many astronomers have announced that Pluto has been experiencing global warming,
and suggested that it is a seasonal event, just like how Earth’s
seasons change as the various hemispheres alter their inclination to
the Sun. We must remember that it is the Sun that determines our
seasons, and thusly has a greater impact upon the climate than we could
ever even try to achieve. - Important scientists are changing their opinions on global warming. Claude Allegre, a leading French scientist, who was among the first
scientists to try to warn people of the dangers of global warming 20
years ago, now believes that “increasing evidence indicates that most of the warming comes of natural phenomena. There is no basis for saying, as most do, that the "science is settled." - IPCC decisions are as much political as scientific, and dissent is discouraged. The President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus said, "It is not fair to refer
to the U.N. panel (IPCC) [as a] scientific institution: it’s a
political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor.
It’s neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of
scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there
with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment.” And if you are
about to ask why no politicians here seem to be saying this, Klaus
offered up an answer, “Other top-level politicians do not express their
global warming doubts because a whip of political correctness strangles
their voice”…. - Demonization of doubters by the media. In reference to how the media
is representing those who dissent from the man-made theory, Nigel Calder, the former editor of New Scientist, stated,
“they often imagine that anyone who doubts the hypothesis of man-made
global warming must be in the pay of the oil companies”, which is
exactly what I believed up until I did my research. He also wrote,
“Enthusiasm for the global-warming scare also ensures that heatwaves
make headlines, while contrary symptoms, such as this winter’s
billion-dollar loss of Californian crops to unusual frost, are
relegated to the business pages”. - Man-made GW deniers are now being associated with Holocaust deniers. There are reported cases of scientists who speak out against the man-made theory as having received death threats.
There has even been talk of relating those who speak out against the
currently held theory on global warming as being equal to those who
deny the Holocaust. In a recent op-ed piece in the Boston Globe
commenting on the report issued by the UN, Ellen Goodman wrote,
“Let’s just say that global warming deniers are now on a par with
Holocaust deniers, though one denies the past and the other denies the
present and future.” This is a very disturbing comment, not only
because there is reason to scientifically doubt the man-made theory,
but also because this is a scathing attack on freedom of speech, the
most vital and important of all rights and freedoms. - Al Gore’s film has created a climate (pun intended) of panic and rush decisions. as Al Gore’s popularity grows and with his recent winning of an Academy
Award for his movie, the issue has spiraled into massive push for quick
action and stifled debate, forcing many scientists to speak out and
challenge the political status quo. A group of scientists recently
stated that the research behind Al Gore’s film and in fact, the concept of greenhouse gases causing global warming, is “a sham”. - An Inconvenient Truth is being systematically debunked by science. In a storm of scientists speaking out against Al Gore’s movie, an
Australian professor of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory has publicly
stated, "Gore’s circumstantial arguments are so weak that they are pathetic. It is simply incredible that they, and his film, are commanding public attention." - We are wasting horrendous amounts of time and public resources on global warming. Timothy Ball, one of the first Canadian doctors in climatology, recently wrote an article addressing the issue of why no one seems to be listening to scientists who claim that global warming is NOT man-made….“We are
wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating
unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific
justification.” Then he mentions how Environment Canada is spending
billions upon billions of dollars on “propaganda” which defends an
“indefensible scientific position while at the same time closing
weather stations and failing to meet legislated pollution targets.” - Dogmatism in government funding leads to dogmatism in our research insitutions. Dr. Timothy Ball later wrote, in commenting on the problems that arise
for scientists who speak out, that, “Sadly, my experience is that
universities are the most dogmatic and oppressive places in our
society. This becomes progressively worse as they receive more and more
funding from governments that demand a particular viewpoint.” - The proposal of global approaches to GW means new global taxes and loss of sovereignty. What is this action that they are planning on taking? The Chancellor of
the Exchequer in the UK, Gordon Brown, soon expected to be the next
Prime Minister after Tony Blair steps down, has publicly called for a “new world order”
to combat the threat of climate change….One major thing being pushed through with little, cancel
that, no debate, is a UN recommendation that we impose “a global tax on greenhouse gas emissions”.
Most people will hear this and think, “Good, polluters need to be
taxed”. Well, this means people who drive cars will be taxed, because
according to Al Gore, when you drive your car, you’re causing global
warming.

Ah, isn't the chant about global cooling this year? Now we are back to the "scientific" view that I grew up with in the seventies.
Humans have released a trillion tons of carbon from coal, oil, and natural gas deposits increasing CO2 in the atmosphere by 36%.
Scientists have known that CO2 is a powerful heat trapping (greenhouse) gas since 1827. Why do you work so hard to distort the truth?
Humans have created a problem and now we need to fix it. The only ones who will get hurt by stopping global warming are the money-people involved with fossil fuels. Are you being funded by them?
I am concerned about wasting tons of time and money on something that is not a crisis at all, but something manufactured by loons to take our money. I am also not happy with the anti-intellectual scare tactics that inhibit true science. It's bullying.
We should be concerned about the environment. We should reduce pollution. We should also spend money where we KNOW it will do good.
"Humans have created a problem and now we need to fix it. The only ones who will get hurt by stopping global warming are the money-people involved with fossil fuels. Are you being funded by them?" ——->
Which prob? heating? cooling? something in between? Newest look at the "problem" says we are now cooling. What bothers me is the treatment of water. It is not a renewable resource although the Earth does a remarkable job of cleansing. Hopefully with all of the glacier melt that is supposed to be going on, it will press more usable water back into the environment.
And yes, I am the CEO of Chevron. ;)
And I am the CEO of Citgo, in league with Hugo Chavez. And Exxon pays for this blog as part of their grass roots conspiracy efforts. Now let me go out to lunch in my Exxon-purchased H2 (I didn't really carpool with my neighbor in his Toyota).
I'll just stick with facts. What happens to ice when it gets warmer? My liberal and biased opinion is, it melts. Conservatives want to teach both sides though, and they will no doubt contend that ice sheets the size of Northern Ireland breaking off is completely normal. So, you be the judge…
Huge Antarctic Ice Sheet on Verge of Collapse
"Scientists are shocked by the rapid change of events."
Sweet. I think the US needs to get up there and plant the star and stripes. Who knows what natural gas and oil reserves await under Lake Vostok. Told you this ice melting thingy is good.
Antarctic ice thickening!! Could Gorebal Warming be a hoax? http://www.usatoday.com/news/science/cold-science…
Good for Chevron, good for America.
Antarctic ice thickening!! Could Gorebal Warming be a hoax? http://www.usatoday.com/news/science/cold-science…
Good for Chevron, good for America.
Look here and here for some relevant stories.
Article 1: "A chunk of Antarctic ice about seven times the size of Manhattan suddenly collapsed, putting an even greater portion of glacial ice at risk, scientists said Tuesday. full story." ——->
At risk of what? Melting? OK … so we are to assume that the glacial mass was not water at some point? Water does freeze, melt, refreeze, many times over a planets existence doesn't it? I would think so. Any way, those cute mercury filled curly que light bulbs will fix our "problems".
Article 2: "The Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, adopted a resolution last year urging Baptists to "proceed cautiously in the human-induced global warming debate in light of conflicting scientific research." The resolution said "many scientists reject the idea of catastrophic human-induced global warming." ——->
If there is a problem or not, corporate America has already latched on to this new religion, as they can sell a lot more stuff at Wal-Mart now at inflated prices under a "green"(its green allright…dolla green, to mimic rev wright)brand. There is no proceeding cautiously, its full steam ahead no matter the conflicting scientific reasoning. As our fav socialist archbishop, Al Gore, has stated "there is no room for debate".
What I can't understand is why the right-wing finds the idea of global warming to be a "hoax" or some deep conspiracy. I think we can debate whether it is totally or partially human-caused or totally or partially natural, but the evidence is in that something is happening that hasn't happened in thousands, if not millions, of years. What is the political agenda behind this denial of the science? And it's more than a mere denial, there's a dismissal of any and all evidence that I find troubling. There needs to be some careful analysis and not alarmist or dismissive rants, and I'm not seeing it here.
What I can't understand is why the right-wing finds the idea of global warming to be a "hoax" or some deep conspiracy…What is the political agenda behind this denial of the science?
First, my answer is in Why the right opposes global warming – including points on
– Unsubstantiated Claims of Certainty
– Panic, Hype, and a History of Extremism
– Failure to adequately address contra-indications
– Worship nature, kill people
– Integration with liberal and anti-west policies
– Disregard for the economy and the poor
And I would put the question in this form, coming from the other side:
"What I can't understand is why the LEFT-wing finds the idea of MAN-MADE global warming to be so sure…What is the political agenda behind this denial of the science?"
Nevertheless, something is happening, and it doesn't look good. Too bad it's become a political football.
Are we saying that ice has never melted or expanded before at the poles? We already know of the Little Ice Age that destroyed the Viking civilization, as one example. Could it be possible that the Earth cycles as it ages into possibly the billions of years? That it is a natural process? And what is happening that is not good actually?
One thing that I do know as a fact. My wife is from Peru, the South Pacific coast(yes a brown skinned woman, shocker huh?). The amount of fish being pulled from the sea has dwindled from the amount of past years, but this has been explained as a cooling of the usually warm currents.
You are such an ignorant, ill-informed piece of shit. This climate change is NOT cyclical. Evey single thing you have posted is just a blatant lie. I don't see how there are still people like you that even exist. The facts proving Global Warming are overwhelming. I think you need to find a hobby instead of creating lies like this. I don't know if you got the memo, but going against the grain isn't cool anymore. Why don't you get off your computer, and do us all a favor by putting your thermostat down a few degrees? Maybe go find some solid evidence of your ridiculous claims too.
