I was discussing w/ Silver my hierarchy of values/issues, and thought to list them here. If you had to prioritize, what order would you choose, and at what point would you draw a line between essential and non-essential positions for your candidate?
My prioritization of the issues is:
- Right to Life / Abortion
- Budget / Economy / Taxes
- Immigration
- War on Terror / Islamofasicm
- Pro-family legislation (protecting our children from broken families and homosexual activism)
- Health Care
- Global Warming / Environment
I demand allegiance on the first three.
Seeker, since we just had this via IM I will bite. Allegiance be damned. ;)
Budget Deficit, Taxes. and the Economy (including the valuation of the dollar)
The War, due to the cost to the deficit (not being counted now) and entanglement
Health Care
Immigration
The Environment, which basically amounts to a new global agreement that is fair and does something about emissions.
As I said to you offline, the other issues that may be salient for you and other folks are probably important. However, without the Economy and Peace and Security straightened out, the United States cannot effectively look inward to address the social issues effectively.
A president once elected only has 24 month to effectively govern before he or she is a lame duck or preparing for re-election. During that time very little is done.
Trying to tackle it all will more than likely mean that few to none of the issues will be addressed effectively, thus leaving more headaches for future presidents.
So based upon this reality, I have prioritized the most immediate issues that has to be addressed.

so, what is a Christian perspective (your tag line)
on taxes/economy?
it seems the Bible says a lot more about immigration than it does that.
are you going to share any biblical reasoning for expecting allegiance on those three.
1. immigration/border sec(national security)
2. fascism(islamo and American gov based)
3. economy health
nothing else matters if these 3 are not handled effectively. the first 2 are joined at the hip with ine another.
speaking of islamofascism : http://hotair.com/archives/2008/02/07/anglican-le…
Biblical economics is a huge field, with highly developed ideas. However, I don't know too much about it yet. But here's some leads.

Seeker, I am not so sold on the idea that modern Macro and Micro Economics in the Global Economy can be bound to truly Biblical Principles.
I can grant that some tenets do apply, but when put into the context of a global economic trade, the forces pulling and pushing on commerce, scarcity, demand, are probably diminishing their impact.
This is something for me to think about further. Interesting.
