Maidens I just received a catalog from Vision Forum, and they have an incredible array of books that you might use for home schooling and self-education in history and world view stuff.  Here’s just a few of their books (I’ve chosen some just because they might frighten liberals).

  • How to Be a Lady
  • Raising Maidens of Virtue
  • Preparing Sons to Provide for a Single-Income Family
  • Family Man, Family Leader
  • The Excellent Wife
  • Home-Making
  • The Wise Woman’s Guide to Blessing Her Husband’s Vision
  • Be Fruitful and Multiply
  • Marriage to a Difficult Man
  • God and Government, Volumes I, II, & III
  • Mathematics: Is God Silent?
  • Noah’s Ark: A Feasibility Study
  • The True Story of Noah’s Ark
  • You Can Farm: The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Start and Succeed In a Farming Enterprise

With titles like "Family Man, Family Leader" I'm shocked that "Veils and Why You Should Love Them" and "Show Your Ankles and Lose Your Life" were not among them. ;-)

That's because, like the liberals, you might confuse conservative christianity with Islam. While they share some important and valuable values, they are not the same. Don't make me slap in your general direction.

Speaking of "Family Man, Family Leader" Seeker or Lawanda, have you guys heard of Rev. Ted Haggard? I saw an article about a scandal he is involved with and I was wondering who he is in the Evangelical community. Is he of high standing?

    Seeker,
Love the book recommendations. Unfortunately, I already have all of them, particularly the ones suggesting that women ought to be subservient to men. Do you have any other recommendations for your Medieval Thinking About The World reading list?

Can you recommend any books concerning the flat-earth theory or methods of witch burning?

I think it is very interesting how reactionary you libs are to conservative values. You have no tolerance for such simple concepts as the value of homemaking, the differences between men and women, the value of traditional family roles, the value of children, chastity, or the teaching of the true masculine and feminine traits that make a man a man and a woman a woman.
Having seen such things abused, you only see abuse, and throw out the baby with the bathwater. In doing so, you create weak men instead of compassionate men, brash and ugly women instead of strong beautiful women, and sexual sluts and deviants instead of people who are free from the manipulations of lust, and free to enjoy sex within marriage. It is pitiable. It is a true saying that "the fool rages against the light."
The flat-earth's association with Christendom, btw, is largely a myth. See The Flat Earth Myth

Hey, you know – Home-making is very under-rated.
It is hard. I don't care WHO is doing the home-making.
The laundry alone is enough to make you want to Run Away!! And you also have to clean things. Icky things. Even if you live alone, toilets get gross and need cleaned.
I have real problems keeping up with it all. And I always have, even when I was childless. It takes a LOT of time and a definite "want to succeed" attitude, for sure.
But, like I said, all that stuff is sadly under-rated. :(

It wasn't a joke, it was a tired liberal canard. Only liberals think flat earth jokes are funny, because it makes them feel like they are smarter than their opponents. If only that were true ;)

    Seeker,
We don’t think that we’re smarter than Christians. We KNOW that we’re smarter than Christians. Or, at least, more willing to look at the available evidence and make decisions. As opposed to believing what’s written in an ancient book.

Lawanda, this woman's Catholic experience mirrors my own in some ways, it's just that I came to her same conclusions at a much younger age. Thanks for the email! Just scroll down and click play (under the picture of Abraham) to listen to her monologue. Have a great weekend!

"Tired liberal canard"? Like the tired conservative canards you enunciate above? And, of course, like all religionistas, you meet any disagreement with feigned astonishment and real contempt: we are "pitiable" because we disagree with your extreme reactionary views on human behavior. When will you people learn that humans are a far more diverse bunch than is dreamed of in your philosophy? When will you learn that there's no "definition" of humanity?
Oh, that's right, I forgot: you're Christians and think that your holy book contains these definitions. Thus, your desire for theocracy. No wonder I hate people like you.

Does Richard Dawkins have a regular assembly for his following, or does he influence people through his videos/books/tv appearances only?
I was wondering if some of his "people" were responsible for the dude you asked about… Ted Whatever. He was in a Richard Dawkins video, and then he suddenly gets NATIONAL news coverage because he supposedly had sex with a guy. Weird.
And I never heard of him before that. But hey, if he had sex with a guy and did drugs, he needs to straighten up and get on with his life. I bet his wife is upset. :(

    Lawanda,
Haggard’s was the boss of the 30-million-strong National Association of Evangelicals. He was a big player at the highest echelons of America’s abusive Christianity, along with people like James Dobson.
For the record, nobody here actually objects to Christians being Christians; we object to Christians telling the government to treat everybody as if they’re Christians, when in fact some of us have no interest. Seeker calls this a “liberal canard” or “irresponsible Libertarianism,” depending on which side of the bed he wakes up on. I, and think others here, believe that individuals should be free to be individuals, and should be free to have their consensual love for one another recognized by the government. Also, I believe that if Seeker opposes gay marriage so forcefully, he should be forced to try to win that debate in the marketplace of ideas, by convincing gays not to get married. Supporting the government’s decision to enforce his own beliefs is lazy and pathetic. He’d rather somebody else do all of his work for him.

That is what a republic government is all about. We all have to support whatever gov't decisions there are which enforce our beliefs, and let someone else do the work for us.
Have you ever voted for something YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN? Please. That doesnt even make sense. You just want an excuse for calling him names. (lazy and pathetic)
    ————————-
And I may have watched too many moffia movies, but it all reeks of "ratting" out the other guy for political gain to me.
And that Haggard guy, he admitted all of his problems, and asked his congregation to forgive him and his accuser. And he is getting counselling. And his wife is staying with him!!
So he totally screwed up. But at least he is big enough to step down and be humble about it. What more can you ask of a person when they do something that stupid, really?
