I will throw this in as a little aside to our conversation earlier this week.
An email published by Andrew Sullivan:
This is not Bush bashing. This isn’t hyperbole. I truly believe that President Bush is a danger to my country. And winning the Iraq war while he is in office would be the true end of the United States as we know it.
Well, kudos to Sullivan for owning up to what conservatives have been accusing – that arch-liberals are often more interested in Bush-bashing and one-upmanship than in the benefit of our country. More interested in saying “I told you so.”
That reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Mr. Burns. Smithers was telling Burns that he should not have left Homer in charge of the nuclear plant, and Burns replies “I-told-you-so has a brother, and his name is Shut-the-hell-up.” Makes me laugh every time.
In your quote, Mr. Burns is analagous to Dick Cheney and Homer, being incompetent and left in charge of the nuclear plant (The U.S.) reminds me of Bush.
