Take a look at the votes on an amendment to cap the number of guest worker permits at 650,000 per year.

You have conservative Republicans like Jim DeMint (SC), Rick Santorum (PA) and Jeff Sessions (AL) voting with liberal Democrats like Barbara Boxer (CA), Robert Byrd (WV), and Diane Feinstein (CA) along with liberal Independent Jim Jeffords (VT) to pass the amendment 51-47.

Those opposed to it include: Sam Brownback (R-KS), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Orin Hatch (R-UT), Bill Frist (R-TN) with Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Harry Reid (D-NV).

What in the world is going on here?

John McCain is on the Senate floor comparing capping the number of guest workers to Jim Crow laws.

President Bush, for reasons only God knows, is sealing the records of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), who was caught taking bribes for votes.

Rep. Dennis Hastert is threatening legal action against ABC for their insinuation that he is tied up in a Justice Department investigation.
