My Two Cents #114 – Creationism1 min read

  • Did Jesus Say He Created in Six Literal Days? – AIG argues from scripture that Jesus understood the Genesis story as literal, and in a young-earth sense. "’But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.’
From this passage, we see that Jesus clearly taught that the creation
was young, for Adam and Eve existed “from the beginning,” not billions
of years after the universe and earth came into existence."
  • Abolition of Man? How Politics and Culture Have Been Dehumanized in the Name of Science – very good Heritage Foundation lecture on science and human value.
  • Does Distant Starlight Prove the Universe Is Old? – AIG argues "no."  "When big bang supporters use distant starlight to argue against
biblical [YE] creation, they are using a self-refuting argument since the
big bang has a light travel-time problem of its own."
  • OEC v. YEC – An OEC takes on the YEC stances.  Very complete – but probably wrong ;)

So, then, you're saying that Jesus teaches that the entire cosmos was "created" in six literal 24-hour days?
Another obstacle to becoming an xian.

Then you should re-read Is Creationism a Barrier to Faith?, and why I think that you are half right and half wrong.
And Jesus was not beyond erecting such barriers – he himself stated that he taught in parables so that those who thought themselves wise would find reasons to find fault, and miss the gospel and the Kingdom, while the simple would see it clearly.
In many cases, he went out of his way to offend people, saying things like "if anyone does not hate his family in comparison to me, they are not worthy of following me" and "unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you have no part in me."
The real barrier to faith is not the 6 day creation story, but the erroneous science that leads men to believe that we evolved over eons, and that the earth is millions of years old, when there are credible young earth explanations for the geological strata, the ice age(s), the fossil record, and such things as red-shift in distant galaxies, AND there are credible scientific evidences for a young earth.
While many are waking up from being Conned by Evolution, still more are misled and suffering from the Mass Delusion of evolutionary spin doctors.

    LOL Louis!!
As for "credible evidence for a young earth," tell me–would any of these scientists that have "credible evidence" NOT affiliated in some sort of Christian group?
    I didn't think so….

    Jason,
Nice ad hominem rather than engaging the science. Typical.

Because you presented SO MUCH scientific data with which to engage in, right?
I'm hoping you realize that the bible is not a science text book, that Answers in Genesis (cough! cough!) is NOT a very good objective source of scientific information, and that if you were able to present some scientific findings from a reliable, objective, non-religious-affiliated scientific source, you'd have a much better leg to stand on in regards to "young earth" and "creationism."
So, when you have some actual scientific data with which to engage, I'd be more than happy to do so–but simply linking to Answers in Genesis (via relinking to yourself a few times) does not a solid, scientific answer make…

Those articles I wrote and the AIG ones have data in them. If you are unable to address those claims, but would rather dismiss them because you don’t trust the source, that’s still an evasion on your part. And you’re still engaging in ad hominems.
