The real question is, since both men have now admitted to adultery, why would conservatives accept either one? Or if they are both contrite, is all forgiven? If so, Gingrich’s politics line up much better than Rudy’s. And this might explain why I have a Gingrich in 2008 sticker on my car – I mean, he might be "too polarizing and unelectable", but what do you think Hillary is? (Personally, I think Obama is going to be our next president, but I can hope and work for a Gingrich administration). Anyway, I offer these articles that help explain what’s going on in the religious right regarding looking for a suitable presidential candidate:
- Gingrich confesses past infidelity on Focus on the Family (Gingrich is friends with Dobson)
- Jerry Falwell explains why Gingrich will be invited as commencement speaker at Liberty Univ.
- The Jesus Machine tracks the rise of Dobson as a political powerhouse, and how the religious right is looking for a candidate – Romney, Brownback, Gingrich, or Huckabee? Probably one of the latter. Listen to this informative interview with the author on NPR’s Fresh Air.
