Is Mike Huckabee the conservative answer in the 2008 Republican presidential primaries? That Wall Street Journal says no.
While many say the former Southern Baptist preacher has the political skills of another former Arkansas governor without all the moral baggage, he has angered fiscal conservatives.
He personally lost 100 pounds through diet and exercise, but he was not able to trim the state budget. He raised taxes, spending and regulations which lead the Club for Growth and the Cato Institute to issue scathing reports about his policies.
Cato gave him a “F” and said that he went “from being one fo the best governors in America to one of the worst.” Club for Growth insinuated the same by wrly commenting “calling oneself an economic conservative does not make one so.”
He is one of many flawed, incomplete candidates this time around. Both sides will be choosing and voting for the best available, not the best overall.
