Wear Your Theology – buy yourself a nice John Calvin t-shirt- Gadgets of Dominion – Doug hypothesizes that men like gadgets because gadgets are used to rule (control) things, and men are made to rule. Nice.
- The Sophomoric Dawkins (with apologies to sophomores) – Real-life philosopher Alvin Plantiga reviews Dawkins’ latest book, The God Delusion. And it’s not complimentary.
- Cute animals and profanity – Justalittleguy.com has lots of pictures and videos of cute little animals, with generally profane captions. Explicit, sometimes funny, but always cute animals. Awww.
- Baptists and Beer – Baptists are upset over the Journey Church, who sponsored a theology Q&A discussion at a local brewery. Sounds good to me. To see the add, go to the Journey site and look under Arts & Culture > Midrash.
- The Latin Jesus is Here – Puerto Rican Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda has a huge growing ministry, with his followers believing him when he has claimed to be the reincarnation of Paul the Apostle, then Jesus, and just last week, he revealed he was the antichrist, along with his new 666 tatoo. Whacky.

About Jose Luis, why don't Evangelicals believe him?
The Sophomoric Dawkins…

I love it: men are made to rule. What? WHAT?!?!?
Cineaste,
Women who use vibrators are going against God's (Seeker's) will. Seriously, I'm not sure you were around when Seeker launched into that particular diatribe, but it was something along the lines that women who focused on orgasms weren't focusing on their husbands. Or something crazy anti-sex, anti-woman attitude.
Point is, gadgets are for boys. Girls have gadgets called babies. That's all they get.
…women who focused on orgasms weren't focusing on their husbands.
WHAT?!?!? I don't get it but I am afraid to ask for the "rational" behind his thinking.
Maybe Seeker just linked to somebody else who disapproved of gadgetry in the bedroom. It was a man who was doing the disapproval. Men always orgasm, of course. Very convenient for them. Their women can suffer. Let me see if I can dig up the link…
…hrm. Well, here was my response. People that oppose the use of vibrators are CRAZY.
Last time I checked orgasms were not as important to women as the emotional part of sex. Hard to get any emotion from a gadget.
Guys tend to fixate on the O, I know. But women do not. I'd say the Samanthas from Sex and the City are few and far between. (by "Samanthas" I mean girls who love their gadgets nearly as much as men – even she can't live without men)
And Sam, some people personally oppose vibrators just because they think "gadgetry in the bedroom" is such a STUPID concept.
Lawanda,
Congratulations on opposing gadgets in the bedroom. That's fine…for you. The issue isn't you. It's preachers suggesting that there is something wrong with the use of such things. If couples want to use vibrators, there's nothing wrong with that. Also, on the issue of orgasms not being as important to women, I think you're wrong. Women might not be encouraged to pursue orgasms in the same way that men are, but the women I know who orgasm are pretty big fans.
It's preachers suggesting that there is something wrong with the use of such things.
In general, I don't think preachers try to tell people whether or not to use such devices. Who cares? However, the bible has a lot of advice for couples, even regarding sex, the chief of which is that you should not deny your partner sex.
I do not oppose them, even though I do seriously find them stupid and useless.
It is really none of my beeswax. But I just know what I read, and how the women I know talk about this type of thing. I have never heard a preacher talk about this. And I have heard lots of preachers preach about sex.
Do you want to be replaced by a gadget? That seems so silly to me.
Men are encouraged to pursue orgasms? That explains a lot.
I think men like the idea of women liking vibrators, more than women actually like them.
It is a very common man thing to do.
