My Two Cents (10/16)
- Dress like a pagan: TallSkinnyKiwi has a funny but somewhat true post on why dressing up for church is more pagan than going casual. I agree. The pagans worry about what they will wear more than their heart condition. Why DO people dress up for church?
- Holier than thou fundies: Don’t miss EO’s comment on the above article, as well as his dressing down of one of my favorite fundy whipping boys, Slice (although truth be told, Ingrid has lightened up on her moderation of my posts, and is kindly letting them through).
- What’s the Joke? Better Bibles Blog has a nice example of how dynamic translation works, and why it is necessary.

Funny articles. It is true though that we dress not just to impress, but to show respect. I dress for funerals, not to impress, but show respect. I dress up for weddings, if I had to go to court etc. Our dress is not always a reflection of pride or boasting, but a sign of respect FOR OTHERS. I had a friend get married and some of his college buddies showed up in baggies and tshirt. Really tacky and really disrespectful. Because the way we dress very often influences our behavior, a little cleaner nicer outfit might make us sit up and listen more in church. Many people in my church dress worse for church than anything else. What does this communicate? What does it reflect? How does it influence attitudes and behavior?
"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."
– Mark Twain (Atheist)
1 Samuel 16:7
Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart
Mark Twain was awesome. But I think naked people have more influence on society now than he would ever have dreamed possible :-p
I dress up for church. But then I like to dress up for stuff. I mean, hey – it isnt every day you get to wear a cute skirt. :) hehe
Hey Lawanda, do you know of any cute single Christian women who could save my soul? I dress well!
Well, since I doubt you really want your soul to be saved, then probably not ;) But it is good to know that you dress well :) LOL
"Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man!"
Good song. :-D
