Joe over at the evangelical outpost has a nice article entitled Why NPR Beats Talk Radio. He echoes my defense of NPR a few weeks back. For me, it’s the best news out there. And of course, I like to supplement w/ the 700 club ;).
But it will be very interesting to see how the NPR Ombudsman thinks NPR is doing. He did have a recent post about religion coverage on NPR. There was some flap about him being non-independent, since he was appointed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) as the conservative ombudsman to make sure our federal funds weren’t being spent on propoganda. (they also appointed a liberal one). In the end, The Organization of News Ombudsmen (ONO) decided that he and another CPB ombudsman could become ONO members, but without voting rights. Hehe.
I must also note that besides Rush Limbaugh, I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of those other conservative talk show hosts he mentions, except maybe a few minutes of Dr. Laura, who I found irritating. But I find most of talk radio annoyingly one sided, and more heat than light.
