The Self Portrait
Ok, this is not really fair, since it's his FANS that think he's our savior. However, this gets points for cleverness. Courtesty of iowntheworld.com.

You could have just as easily put "W" in the picture for the same effect. Not funny. In fact, offensive to anyone except for the far-right, knee-jerk Obama haters (and it should be offensive to fair-minded Christians I would hope).
I think people are too easily offended – esp. extremists and others with weak senses of irony and humor.
In fact, Al Mohler wrote a great post on that in The Culture of Offendedness?
I'm not offended, I just don't think it's funny, mainly because it's inaccurate and unfair and mean-spirited. This is purely a gibe left over from the more vicious elements of the campaign who still haven't gotten over the fact that they lost.
btw: If anyone could be accused of thinking they are Christ it's the christianist right with their self-righteous, holier-than-thou delusion that they speak for Christ and therefore get to judge and condemn everyone but themselves. Now that's justified, and more sad than funny.
btw: The picture reminds me of "Piss Christ" in its use of the image of Jesus for other, partisan ends. It's ironic that a fundamentalist christianist thinks it's funny. I guess the need to "get" Obama overrules everything else, even the sacred.
btw: Here's something else not-so-funny yet relevant for you (and the logical outcome of your side's idiocy).
>> LOUIS: mainly because it's inaccurate and unfair and mean-spirited.
I'm sorry, your mean-spiritedness and lack of fair play with regard to conservatives makes your accusation hypocritical at best.
And I admitted it was not fair or true, but thought it clever. So what's your point?
>> LOUIS: The picture reminds me of "Piss Christ" in its use of the image of Jesus for other, partisan ends.
I think you are right – the piss Christ was trying to offend those who love and worship Christ as messiah, while this one is trying to offend those who love and worship Obama as messiah.
>> LOUIS: If anyone could be accused of thinking they are Christ it's the christianist right with their self-righteous, holier-than-thou delusion that they speak for Christ…
Blah blah. They think that the *bible* speaks for Christ, but proclaiming the words of Christ offends selfish, sinful men. The fact that many of those same Christians are hypocrites does not change the fact that the Bible is true. Those that reject the commands of Christ due to hypocrites are making a sad mistake.
blah, blah…trying to talk with fanatics is pointless. As you say, it's a "sad mistake" trying to reason with proven and blatant hypocrites who reject the commands of Christ.
Until Aaron and/or James chose to break their silence (begun exactly when I held out the hand of peace and reconciliation, ignored by stinker), I will not participate here. I urge Cin and Keith to join me.
btw: One reason I'm boycotting this blog as long as stinker is the sole poster is that it has devolved into a right-wing Republican rant site. There is little "Christian commentary" as claimed here, unless you mistake fringe christianist Republicanism for Christ. Why take part anymore when the more thoughtful Christian commentators have abandoned it?
In response to Louis post #4, this is something that makes me sick. The extremism that republicans are spewing has resulted in someone dying…
BILL SPARKMAN'S GRUESOME DEATH….
Hi Daniel;
I think I have established my credentials as a fair minded liberal, civil to those who disagree with me etc. I agree with Louis that the above cartoon isn't funny. And I can assure you that I can laugh at jokes made at liberals expense as long as they are funny. And Oh yeah–we liberals do NOT think Obama is our savior even though getting rid of the previous gang in the White House and preventing McCain/Palin from power was pretty helpful.
