We can disagree over a lot of things politically, but I would hope that we can agree that Massachusetts State Representative James Fagan is the world’s worst politician. For some reason Rep. Fagan believes that his job as a defense attorney
will be to destroy the lives of child rape victims because the state
legislature dared to pass a 20 year "draconian" mandatory sentence for
someone convicted of raping a child under the age of 12.

I’m not sure why the extended jail time would cause him to be even more vicious to a child on the stand than the current law, but here’s his reasoning:

If you can’t understand idiotic Boston politician/lawyer rambling, he said:

“Let me tell you why it’s so wrong, It’s so wrong because in these situations . . . that 6-year-old is going to sit in front of me, or somebody far worse than me and I’m going to rip them apart. I’m going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined.
That when they’re 8 years old they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep. When they’re 19 years old they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody. And that’s not because I’m a nice guy. That’s because when you’re in court, and you’re defending somebody’s liberty, and you’re facing a mandatory sentence of those draconian proportions, you have to do every single thing you can do on behalf of your client. That is your obligation as a trial lawyer.”

You see? It’s everybody else’s fault when he makes 8 year old girls throw up because first they were physically raped by a demented pervert and then they were verbally raped by a demented lawyer. It’s the fault of Jessica’s Law when 12 year old boys can’t go to sleep out of fear of their rapist coming back and reliving the horror in the courtroom. It’s the fault of child advocates who pushed for the law that a 19-year-old girl can’t go off to college because she still wakes up in the middle of the night with horrific nightmares and can’t even stand close to a guy much less date one.

It’s not the fault of the criminal rapist or the sick defense attorney, nope it’s our fault. We shouldn’t make child rapist stay in jail longer than five years. That’s what’s really horrific.

By the way, if Keith Olbermann wants to do something actually worthwhile he can name this guy his world’s worst person. But he won’t do that because the guy belongs to the wrong party and I don’t think even Keith can blame his idiotic rant on Bush. This guy, and the rapist he defends, are the real world’s worst persons, not just a politician with whom you disagree.
