Worst political timing – ever

John Kerry has the political instincts of Walter Mondale. Is there any wonder he lost the 2004 election?

He decides to announce his “plan” for Iraq during the best news week this year for Bush. Al-Zarqawi was killed. The Iraqi government continues to make positives steps. The “culture of corruption” meme continues to crumble with Democrats being caught and Karl Rove being vindicated. Now this.

Unbeknownst to him, while he is calling for a cut-and-run, pull-out policy in Iraq, President Bush is making a surprise trip to Iraq to encourage the US troops and the fledgling Iraqi government. Was he for the visit before he was against it?

Al-Zarqawi being killed was great news for democrates as well. I know I did a little dance. It was great news for Iraq and everyone except for terrorists.
As far as the republican culture of corruption here is the scorecard so far of major scandals and what they are accused of.
    Democrats:
William Jefferson – bribery, accepting 100k
    Republicans:
    G.W. Bush – lying about WMD's, cronyism
    Karl Rove – CIA leak
    Scooter Libby – CIA leak
Jack Abramoff – made 220 donations to Republcans in Congress, then he plead guilty to conspiracy, mail fraud and tax evasion in the lobbying scandal.
Michael Scanlon – plead guilty to corruption and is assisting in the investigation of Abramoff, Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed.
Duke Cunningham – forced to resign after pleading guilty to bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion for taking $2.4 million in bribes.
Mike Brown – Incompetence and probably a scapegoat for other incompetents. A crony. Already fired.
Bill Frist – He gave the videotape diagnosis in the Terry Schiavo case, and is currently under investigation by the SEC for insider trading and blind trust issues.
David Safavian – He was arrested on September 19, 2005 for making false statements and obstruction of justice in the Abramoff lobbying scandal investigation.
I could go on by I think I made my point. I think all these republicans and Jefferson should be prosecuted if the accusations are proved.
In the upcoming elections, I will vote for democrates because the have better values.

It can easily be shown that an equal number of Democrats have "equal morals" to the list of malefactors above. As to better values, that's a value judgement on your part.

Perhaps, but my simple google search unearthed many more corrupt republicans than democrats.
As to better values, that's a value judgement on your part.
    This is true.

Cineaste, I'm sure you are not going to vote Republican in the fall that is fine, but don't make it because you think the Democrats are above corruption while the GOP is awash in it.
I could go through your list (which includes many non crimes or violations, just your own personal dislike or opinions) and rebutt many of your arguements, however a better tactic may be to add a good many to your Democrat list.
Just last week Harry Reid got in trouble for taking favors (boxing tickets) which violate the ethics rules. He was also in bed with Abramoff, taking money and voting in favor of several bills that he was lobbied for by Abramoff.
John Conyers forcing his aides to do election work and personal errands for the Congressman, in violation of House rules.
Several Democratic appointees in the CIA and other intelligence agencies have been accused of leaking military secrets (NSA wire-tapping, program with BellSouth, Verizon and AT&T (which ended up being fradulent), secret prisons in Europe, etc.) You may agree with those leaks but they were still wrong.
Sandy Burger taking secret documents from the government in his socks and underpants, claiming he accidentally did it.
Two staffers for Chuck Schumer illegally obtained Michael Steele's credit report using his social security number.
You may have not heard of many of these, the MSM didn't do too much with them.
Look, I have no problem going after anyone (or all of these) if they actually did something wrong. But Washington is a corrupt town and the Democrats do not want to start digging too hard.
I'm not arguing for more corruption from one side or the other. I am arguing for less corruption as a rule for both sides. The tit-for-tit could go on forever with both sides pulling up numerous names.
Corruption is a problem on both sides. I wish we could throw (virtually) all of them out and start over.
