I love to read and am usually working my way through at least one or two books at the same time (more when I’m reviewing books for Mind and Media). However, when I saw Time’s list of the 100 greatest novels since 1923 I realized that I must have been reading the wrong books. Out of the entire list I probably had only read a dozen and half of those were in college when I was forced to read them. Only a couple of others that I hadn’t read I at least recognized and intend to read at some point. At least The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe made the list.

Just for fun, I decided to take a look at the AFI Top 100 movies list and see how I had done in seeing those movies acknowledged to be for the most part the best ever made. Amazingly enough I had managed to see 53 of the movies on the list thus far and most of them by choice.

The question for our well-read visitors is this: is the Time list truly representative of the greatest modern novels? You be the judge.
