Now that Judge Roberts is now Chief Justice Roberts, the big question is who will President Bush nominate for the other Supreme Court vacancy?

It appears some of the recent buzz centers around a judge from my home state of SC – Fourth Circuit Judge Karen Williams.

The rumor mill will be in full swing today and tomorrow, or at least until Bush makes known his nominee. I fully expect to see several “fake-outs” by the administration, as we did with Roberts nomination.

It is my hope that the president will nominate the most qualified person who will read the Constitution and enforce it as it is written. I do not ask for someone who is a “conservative,” but a jurist who understands the role of the court to interpret existing law.

For all the up-to-the-minute rumors go to Bench Memos and Confrim Them.
