Spiritual Counterfeits Project Journal1 min read

Listen to this article

J2803 I received my first free copy of SCP Journal, as part of our partnership with Mind & Media, who link Christian publishers with bloggers who agree to review their publications in exchange for receiving the materials free.  As I always say, however, that doesn’t guarantee a positive review ;).

Since I have a year’s worth of SCP Journal coming, I just want to do a superficial review of the first issue.

Purpose

The purpose statement is this:

Since 1973, the SCP has been a frontline ministry confronting the occult, the cults, and the New Age movement and explaining why they are making an impact on our society.

True to this statement, their journal seems less about how to counter cults, and more about how their doctrines and acceptance affect society.

Format

The format is rather simple.  Although the cover is in color, the interior pages are entirely black and white, and ad-free.  There are only about 4 articles per issue, but they are long and broken up nicely with subheadings.  Each article is well footnoted (more than 40 per article).

Once I get to reading, I’ll let you know what I think about the content.
